Area Rugs in your home

Everybody has a weakness, mine is a long term commitment area rugs and endless cleaning routines to keep them fresh and pretty.

I simply can’t walk past a carpet shop without peeking in and dreaming how each would look in every room of my home. Some women have a shoe thing, my thing is carpets.

Because of my affinity for area rugs, I’ve built up a rather wonderful knowledge base on how to keep them spotless. Of course, keeping your woolen or synthetic rugs clean depends largely on what type of rugs you have at home.

Here’s an important cleaning tip – all rugs are not made equal. Certain area rugs require specialist treatment like Persian, Kelim, or Oriental.

If your home’s anything like mine – Sand, dirt and bits of the great outdoors make their way inside on the shoes of my friends and family members an onto my rugs.

When accidents happen as they do, the best course of action is to clean your rug immediately, using the right agents to make sure color-fastness isn’t compromised. Most manufacturers have made their rugs stain-resistant, which gives you a head start.

Always do a thorough vacuum first before you attempt the washing routine and make sure all other areas of your home are clean too!

Carpet Odor Tip

Nothing takes the mood out of a room like a smelly carpets. Whether the smell is caused by stale dust and debris, lack of air circulation or by pets, taking the smell out will be a priority. But with nasty carpet odors, you don’t have that much time.

There’s actually a very simple do it yourself carpet odor removal technique that not many homeowners are familiar with: Baking Soda Treatment. Baking soda may have been designed for a different purpose than cleaning carpets, but the truth is that it’s very efficient in taking out bad smells completely.

Although there’s no such process involved, you might hear others say that baking soda “absorbs” smell. In truth, it cleans up the area where the smell originated and stops it from getting in the air.

Carpet Cleaning Tips

“Spot cleaning keeps your carpet looking good until you have time to call our Hometown Professional to do the job. Remember, carpet manufactures recommend having your carpets professionally cleaned at least once a year. Twice if you soil them frequently. Cleaning your carpet too often can hurt your carpet and shorten it’s life-span. One of the problems that we come across is when homeowners clean their carpet themselves and leave behind a terrible residue in the carpet. This is especially true when using certain name brand carpet spot removers.

These products leave a residue that temporarily leaves the spot looking good and giving you a false sense of satisfaction for a job well done. However, within a few weeks or even days, the spot is replaced with a grayish-blackish spot the continues to collect more dirt as the spot has traffic over it. When these spots are rinsed out, it leaves a residue that is worse than the original spot. One other item to note, keep in mind before you start spilling things on that stain – you may do more damage and end up costing yourself more money than if you just simply called a professional.

Pre-Holiday Carpet Cleaning

Carpet Cleaning before the festivities begin…

The countdown has begunMany clients have responded to reminders about calling early for pre-holiday carpet cleaning, but if you are one of those people who procrastinates until the last minute, and still needs to grab an appointment waiting much longer can be…Stressful.

At the eleventh hour here comes the desperate phone call from a dear client who has let “clean the carpets before the holiday guests arrive ” slip to the bottom of their “to-do list.” Unfortunately, when they call I’m usually already booked solid. That’s when the begging and pleading begins. If only they would have called me sooner, by the time their holiday guests and parties arrived their carpet would have looked…Brand Spanking New!

Please don’t let this be you this year. Don’t worry, at this point, you can still have clean carpets before your guests arrive. Your carpet can still be transformed into fluffy, clean carpets. You can still have all your spots and spills removed. (The ones that have been bugging you since last Christmas.) Because…We can still fit you in.

So Call Today!
