Fading Upholstery?

Several steps which a homeowner can take to insure that  ultraviolet light damage or fading is minimized this summer.

Keep your upholstery out of direct sunlight – arrange your rooms to minimize direct sunlight exposure to your upholstery.

Close drapes and blinds – during the brightest part of the day, this will help protect your upholstery.

Protective window treatments – ultraviolet blocking window coatings are now widely available. They can be applied at the factory on new windows or on the panes of your existing windows.

Apply fabric protectors – by having fabric protectors applied to your upholstery, you can reduce the amount of sun fade damage. Fabric protector will need to be reapplied after cleaning in Roseville, Ca.

Oily spots

Oily spots from grease, tar,  baby oil, suntan oil,  etc are usually quite stable, so they’re not especially urgent to deal with – apart from visual annoyance.

As long as you call your Local Hometown Professional Carpet Cleaner. within a few days, oil can usually be removed with success.

Scrape up the excess, remove as much of the oil as possible without spreading it.

Do not apply water or any other liquid as oil repels water and it will probably just spread the oil out over a larger area.

We wouldn’t recommend using any of the available stain removers you see advertised or at your local market, as these may make it worse.

These simple tips will minimize any damage or discoloration to your carpets and rugs.

Tips for Carpet Spills

What should you do when it comes to spills on your carpet? The 1st is to blot it out with paper towels. Do not press it on your carpet. Depending on what was spilled, a damp towel would be enough to clean it. A small amount of baking soda should remove any lingering odors from the spill. If you spill a red soda of any kind, or grape type sodas, immediately call your Professional Carpet Cleaning Professional. This also applies to red wines. We all have procedures to remove spots or stains while keeping your carpets looking great.

Area Rug Cleaning Tip

Everybody has a weakness, mine is a long term commitment area rugs and endless cleaning routines to keep them fresh and pretty.

I simply can’t walk past a carpet shop without peeking in and dreaming how each would look in every room of my home. Some women have a shoe thing, my thing is carpets.

Because of my affinity for area rugs, I’ve built up a rather wonderful knowledge base on how to keep them spotless. Of course, keeping your woolen or synthetic rugs clean depends largely on what type of rugs you have at home.

Here’s an important cleaning tip – all rugs are not made equal. Certain area rugs require specialist treatment like Persian, Kelim, or Oriental.

If your home’s anything like mine – Sand, dirt and bits of the great outdoors make their way inside on the shoes of my friends and family members in Roseville, Ca.

When accidents happen as they do, the best course of action is to clean your rug immediately, using the right agents to make sure color-fastness isn’t compromised. Most manufacturers have made their rugs stain-resistant, which gives you a head start.

Always do a thorough vacuum first before you attempt the washing routine and make sure all other areas of your home are clean too!
